San Antonio Pediatric Society is hosting this event and its proceeds will benefit the Texas Pediatric Society Foundation and San Antonio local children’s organizations. While this is not a timed race, Superhero themed races are always a hit!

Socal We Run the City 5K-Special Olympics

Funds raised by the We Run the City 5K run/walk & 10K run support Special Olympics athletes. Alumni, faculty, fans, staff, and students compete for bragging rights and the We Run the City trophy. Runners will receive a Team USC or UCLA event shirt and a finisher’s medal. Runners/walkers who fundraise will have the opportunity to earn more prizes.

Special Olympics Southern California enriches the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their communities through sports, education, and athlete health. Every dollar raised through We Run the City not only provides free year-round sports training and competitions for our athletes, it also gives them empowerment, joy, and improved health. Special Olympics helps build the self-confidence of a person with intellectual disabilities so they can work and give back to their community. It drives their determination so they can overcome hurdles. We Run the City is an annual 5K run/walk & 10K run is a rivalry race between USC and UCLA that supports Special Olympics Southern California. Official timing will be carried out for this race by Conqur.

Alumni, faculty, fans, staff, and students of USC and UCLA will compete for bragging rights and the We Run the City trophy.


HOW TO WIN

How to Win

Each runner/walker must declare their allegiance at the time of registration and whether they are an alumni, faculty, fan, staff, or student. They are then a part of Team USC or Team UCLA. Competition is broken into the three categories above. The school that wins at least two out of three, claims victory and their school has bragging rights and the trophy for the year!

The Kids’ Race will be held the same morning as the run/walk. It will be a 1/4 mile loop around the festival area. The Kids’ Race is for children 10 and under only. A medal and a special “kids’ size” T-shirt included. The Kids’ Race is not timed.

FAN FEST

Relax with friends and fellow runners/walkers at our Fan Fest. This fun zone will set the tone for the event and include food, beverages, music, entertainment and a free photo booth.

Honorary Captain

HONORARY CAPTAIN

Special Olympics Southern California athletes can part of We Run the City as Honorary Captains. As Honorary Captains, athletes will team up with an organization or company for We Run the City. Duties include writing a message which will be sent as motivation to their team prior to the event. On event day, they will run/walk with their team in the We Run the City 5K and join them in a team photo.

Dogs

Only service dogs will be allowed on the course.

Strollers

Strollers are permitted, however, they will begin the race at the back of the crowd.

Cancellation

Once an Entry fee is accepted, it is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. No exceptions.

You may not give or sell your number to anyone else.

Event Particulars

Packet Pick-up:  There are several opportunities for packet pickup with times and locations listed above. For all athletes you must bring a signed waiver. Race day pick-up is available but not recommended as race morning is very busy with parking, warming up, and getting to the start line.  If you are picking up your packet or registering on race morning please show up earlier than you normally would to allow time to do so.  We will not be able to process new registration or hand out packets once the races start.  Gear check will be provided.

Race T-shirts:  Available shirt sizes are listed during registration.  In the final few days before the event, some sizes will sell out.  Not all sizes may be available for same day registration.

Visit the t-shirt table at the Expo after 9:00 AM for shirt exchange if you are interested in trading out the size you ordered for a different size!

Picking up race materials/packet for another participant(s):
In order to allow your packet to be picked up by anyone else but yourself, we require both of the following:

IMPORTANT: If you are picking up for a couple, both people must sign their own waivers!!!

Aid Stations: There are three hydration points along the route located at mile 1.4, 3.5 and 4.7. All aid stations have water and electrolyte drink mix. We are proud to welcome Nuun Hydration as our “Official Drink” sponsor of the Coronado Valentine’s Day race.

Race Day Parking: Tidelands Park is located at 2000 Mullinex Dr, Coronado, CA 92118 has approx 200 parking spots.  The neighborhoods around Coronado offer plenty of on street parking if you do not park in Tidelands Park. It is highly recommended that you carpool with friends for the race and arrive early.

Bag Check: A bag check is available at the start line for your convenience.

Post Race Party: The post race party will be held at McP’s Irish Pub and Grill located at 1107 Orange Avenue in Coronado. After the race, stop by to enjoy breakfast and cold beer!

  • Breakfast Buffet (Eggs, Bacon, Potatoes, Bread, Fruit etc) will be served at McP’s in the patio from 9am-11am ($15)
  • Free Beer (for participants) will be available until we run out or until 2pm!!

Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series will provide complimentary bibs, shirt and race medals for our Angel Riders. However, Angel Teams (Angel Rider and at least one, but preferably two Angel Runners) must commit for race participation no later than 30 days PRIOR to the event by emailing the Ambassador with their full name, birth date, and distance they have registered or plan to run.  Interested participants must be a registered Angel at www.AinsleysAngels.org and have sufficiently practiced with the Angel Riders in our chariots prior to the Rock ‘n’ Roll race event.  This is critically important for the safety and comfort of not only our Angel Riders but our Angel Runners as well.  Similar to the concept of not trying out new gear on race day, it it doubly important when it comes our chariots and our precious Angel Rider.
