SUMMARY:EASTERN CAROLINA: Wingman Foundation Coastal Carolina Memorial 5K & Fun Run
DESCRIPTION:This will be the very first time that our Ambassadorship participates in this event\, which is in support of such an amazing cause and has very special ties to our local military community. The 5th Annual Coastal Carolina Memorial 5K and Kid’s Fun Run will be in memory of the crew of Ghost 31\, Captain Matthew J. Tomkiewicz\, Captain Ross A. Reynolds\, Gunnery Sergeant James W. Speedy\, and Corporal Jacob M. Moore. The crew were members of the VMM-261 Raging Bulls from Marine Corps Air Station New River. This year’s race will be held in the Jacksonville Commons in Jacksonville\, NC. There is also an option to participate virtually to support The Wingman Foundation from wherever you are. The missions of The Wingman Foundation continue: 1) Supporting families in the immediate aftermath of the mishap and 2) Continuing to remember those air warriors we have lost to Navy and Marine Corps aviation mishaps. \nThe race will take place at the Jacksonville Commons Recreation Center.

SUMMARY:EASTERN CAROLINA: Marine Corps Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate the 11th Anniversary of our Ainsley’s Angels in Eastern Carolina family! We made our debut as an organization at this event back in 2012! We are a proud sponsor of this event and will soon have register codes to provide our Angel Runners and Riders! If you are a registered Angel Runner or Rider\, don’t register until you have this special code! It will be emailed to you as soon as we have them! A base pass is needed to attend the event and they can be secured through your registration\, if you don’s already have one. \nThe Marine Corps Half Marathon is steeped in history and tradition. The Marine Corps Half Marathon provides runners the honor of running aboard the majestic Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. Runners will experience a scenic course beginning at the Wallace Creek Fitness Center. Along the course\, runners will take a personal “tour” of the base\, passing notable sites such as the beautiful waters of the New River\, Morgan Bay\, and Farnell Bay; the Paradise Point Golf Course where the Heroes Mile will be on display; and neighborhood communities before completing their journey back at Wallace Creek Fitness Center.\nThis course is not USATF certified.\nThis race is open to the public. Deadline to submit information for installation access is Aug. 16.\nRegistration:\nRegister early for the best value.\nRegister at https://register.chronotrack.com/r/72223

SUMMARY:EASTERN CAROLINA: Movin' Mullet 5K Run
DESCRIPTION:This event is a part of our Jacksonville Onslow Sports Commission Race Series and we are so excited to “roll” in it for the first time! Taking place in Swansboro at 109 N. Front St.\, you will get a tour of beautiful Swansboro while you “roll with the wind”…and while sporting a “Mullet” hairstyle…if you dare! \nMovin’ Mullet 5k Run presented by Bob Mills Mitsubishi \nWhen you hear the word mullet\, do you think of the fish or the rockin’ hairstyle? With our race\, we hope your future answer will be both. To help Swansboro kick off their Mullet Festival\, we will hold the Movin’ Mullet 5K the Saturday before the festival on October 7th. \nWe hope that you will use this opportunity to show off your fun clothing and awesome mullet hairstyles. Whether it is the North Carolina Neck Warmer\, the Kentucky Waterfall\, the Camero Crash Helmet\, the Tennessee Top Hat\, the Beaver Paddle\, the El Camino Headrest\, or even the Mississippi Mudflap\, all mullets are welcomed…and actually encouraged. \nWe know that you will be all business in the front at the start line but that it will be a party in the back when you receive your medal as you cross the finish line. So channel your inner Billy Ray Cyrus\, Wayne and Garth\, John Daly\, Andrew Agassi\, Mel Gibson\, every ’80’s wrestler or Tina Turner and go ahead and register now and claim your spot.

SUMMARY:EASTERN CAROLINA: 2024 Recovery Run 5K
DESCRIPTION:Due to the generosity of the race director and his support of the Ainsley’s Angels mission\, he will be providing our Angels with FREE registration codes for this event! \nThe Difference180 Recovery is hosting our 7th Annual Run for Recovery Awareness. The theme “Becoming Part of the Solution” will focus on what you can do as an individual to be a help in your community. Since the pandemic there has been an outbreak in drug addictions\, suicides\, depression and isolation. It is our mission to bring hope and healing to those who have been affected by these evil influences.\nOne of the key factors to help someone in recovery is to get them in a culture of a healthy “Family” or “Community”.  This is what we want to provide at the Difference 180 Recovery Meetings. We are a faith-based program.\nThere will be Finisher Medals issued out to all Registered Runners.  Also for 1st\, 2nd and 3rd place finishers for the 5K and 10K  will be an additional medal issued out for each age group.  Best Overall times will receive a trophy.\nThis year we have added a children’s 100 yard dash. This will start around 10am. This is for children from 4-10 years old. No awards will be given for this race. However\, we do have a special surprise for each of the finishers!

SUMMARY:Eastern Run/Walk for Autism
DESCRIPTION:Description\nAs many as 1 in 54 children may be diagnosed with autism in the United States. You can make a difference in the lives of children with autism and their families by registering for the Virtual Run/Walk for Autism. Even though we cannot celebrate in person this year\, you can make an even bigger impact by recruiting family members\, friends\, and co-workers from across the country to form a team and raise donations. Now more than ever\, individuals with autism and their families need you! \nProceeds from the Virtual Run/Walk for Autism will fund local programs of the Autism Society of North Carolina\, the leading statewide resource organization serving the people in NC across the spectrum throughout their lifespans. Participation in this event has helped ASNC to open a Social Recreation Centers in Eastern NC that offers summer day camps\, afterschool care\, and adult programs. Funding from the Run/Walk also enabled ASNC to bring other programs to the region\, including LifeLong Interventions\, ASNC’s comprehensive treatment program for children and adults\, and workshops with ASNC clinical experts.
